The Literacy Profile

Start with the Literacy Profile.

Every student begins with a MorphoMinds Literacy Profile, a structured assessment designed to identify strengths, skill gaps, and the best instructional pathway. We don't guess. We assess.

What the assessment looks at

Eight windows into how your child reads.

01

Decoding

How sounds and letters connect to read unfamiliar words.

02

Fluency

Reading with accuracy, smoothness, and expression.

03

Vocabulary

Breadth and depth of word knowledge.

04

Comprehension

Understanding and reasoning about text.

05

Spelling patterns

How orthographic knowledge shows up in writing.

06

Morphological awareness

Recognizing roots, prefixes, and suffixes.

07

Reading confidence

Attitude, stamina, and self-belief while reading.

08

Parent concerns & goals

Your observations and what you hope to see.

A look inside

The Literacy Profile, in plain language.

After the assessment, families receive a clear summary of findings, strengths, gaps, and a recommended pathway. No jargon, no guesswork. Just a picture of where your child stands and exactly what comes next.

Assessment questions

What parents ask about the assessment

What actually happens during the assessment?+
It's a friendly, structured session where we look at how your child reads, understands, and works with words, across decoding, fluency, vocabulary, reading comprehension, spelling, and word structure. Most children find it engaging, not stressful.
Is this a dyslexia diagnosis?+
No. The Literacy Profile is an educational reading assessment that identifies strengths and skill gaps and guides instruction. MorphoMinds does not diagnose dyslexia, ADHD, or learning disabilities, though our support is a strong fit for children with dyslexia-like challenges.
How long does it take, and when do we get results?+
Plan for a focused session with your child, after which you receive a clear, plain-language summary of findings and a recommended plan, no jargon to decode.
What age or grade is this for?+
We work with a wide range of ages, from early readers through middle and high school students preparing for more demanding coursework. If you're unsure it's a fit, book a free discovery call and we'll talk it through.
In person or virtual?+
Both, in person in Columbia, South Carolina, or virtually with families across the U.S.
